Registration

1. Eligibility & Requirements

Instructor Registration and Participation Rules

Registration: Each participating school can register up to 2 surf instructors for the competition, allowing flexibility in case an instructor is unavailable or injured during the competition period.

Schools must complete the initial registration on Flowturama's webpage prior to the first challenge. Once registered, schools are automatically entered into the following challenges.

Wave Submission: Schools can submit 1 wave per challenge, with the option to rotate between the registered instructors as needed.

Finals Day Participation: If the school advances to the finals, they must select one instructor from the registered pair to compete in the final event for the prize.

Requirements

Each instructor must hold a recognized surf instructor certification:

  • IPDJ Level 1, 2 or 3 Diploma

2. Equipment & Submission Guidelines

All waves must be ridden on a softboard with a minimum size of 7'0".

Each school is allowed to submit ONE wave per challenge.

The wave must be surfed in Portugal and during the specific challenge window.

The video must be unedited; no cuts, modifications, music, or sound effects are permitted. The video can be in either horizontal or vertical format.

Participants will have 14 days to submit their video entry. Winners will be announced within 3 days after the submission window closes.

The videos must be posted on the School's Instagram Page, tag @hurleyportugal_ and @flowtsurfboards and include the hashtag dedicated to each challenge.

3. Judging Panel & Criteria

Judges: Each challenge will be evaluated by a panel of three judges:

  • 1 Media Partner representative
  • 1 TBD
  • 1 Hurley Team Rider (rotating per challenge)

Judging Criteria: Each challenge will have unique judging criteria announced at the start. Judges will assess entries based on wave selection, technique, and creativity, in line with the specific goals of each challenge.

4. Prizes

Winner Surf Instructor - 1 Maldives Surf trip provided by Take Off Agency*

Winning Surf School - 10 Flowt Surfboards

All finalists - Hurley Surf Gear

Note: The winning Surf Instructor represents their Surf School, which will also be awarded as the winning Surf School.

Includes:

  • Round-trip flight from Lisbon to Malé in economy class, with a 25kg luggage allowance (one checked bag and one board bag)
  • Aviation fees
  • Shared public transfer from the airport to the guest house and back by speedboat
  • 7 nights in a Standard Single Room at Season Paradise with breakfast and dinner (drinks not included)
  • Local tourist taxes
  • VIP Travel Insurance from Takeoff Surf Travel
